Weight and Size criteria.

Care has to be taken not to exceed ballast design limits.

Gliders have a designed maximum seat weight limit of 242 lbs (110 kg). However after taking into account the parachute, clothing and the second pilot/instructor we have to work to a maximum of 15.5 stones (98 kg). In cases where there is doubt, for yours and the instructors safety, you will be asked to stand on a set of scales before flying.

As regards minimum values this is not usually a problem as we can add balance weights. In very rare cases the pupil has flown in the rear seat, which has no minimum.

If you are over 6ft 2in you may have a problem with head and/or leg room. You are very welcome to sit in a glider before deciding to purchase a flight or a voucher. We have two models to try.
